ON Gold Standard
I complained about downing a 10lb bag of French Vanilla Creme so I picked up two flavours instead: Rocky Road and Natural Vanilla. I was hesitant about the Rocky Road thinking that it would be overly sweet, but I was genuinely surprised. It tastes chocolatey without all that sugary aftertaste. Bloody marvelous.
On the other hand, Natural Vanilla … oh boy, I wish I could re-do that moment when I picked that thing up. Actually, Natural Vanilla was my first choice because I was told it was tasteless. After months of French Vanilla Creme, I could use something that tastes like nothing so I could just chugged it after a workout. Natural Vanilla is tasteless, but there’s an ingredient called ‘stevia’ which is a natural sweeter. Armando said, “It’s like Splenda, but better!”
So what the hell, how bad could it be? Wrong. Oh, so terribly wrong.
Natural Vanilla really does taste like nothing, until three (3) seconds later there’s this strange wheat-like aftertaste. Yes, wheat and it is repulsive to me. Have you ever seen a beer commercial (like, Molson Canadian) where they film over a horizon of golden-honey colour wheat field? Now, imaging the reality of that wheat field with the smell of the grass, wheat, and muddiness all in your mouth.
Welcome to Natural Vanilla.
